ELKHART -- Gloria N. Gerring, 84, of Elkhart, died at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 1, 2009) in Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born May 30, 1925, in Elkhart to Leo and Frances (VonKrusjterna) Weaver.
On July 5, 1958, she married Edward J. "Ted" Gerring in Elkhart. He died June 29, 1972, in Elkhart.
Mrs. Gerring is survived by one daughter, Tamy (Dwayne) Rosenberry of Bristol; two sons, William Gerring of Elkhart and Kim (Kathy) Gerring of Nappanee; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna (John) VanHorn of Elkhart and Vicky Davis of Edwardsburg; and one brother, Jim Weaver of Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by four siblings, Deloris Fulton, Betty Branum, Shirley Parker and Richard Weaver; and one great-granddaughter.
Mrs. Gerring was a homemaker who volunteered at Switchboard Concern. She was Miss Elkhart in 1941.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral home, 700 E. Jackson Blvd., Elkhart. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Pastor Ted Gerring, Mrs. Gerring's grandson, will officiate. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to The Center for Hospice and Palliative care or the Humane Society of Elkhart County.
