Both brothers survived the Civil War, and were mustered out with their company on Aug. 8, 1865.
After the death of his second wife, White lived in the Soldier's Home in Milford, Nebraska, for 15 or 16 years. When his health failed, he was taken to the home of his only son, W.H. White in Crete, NE, where he later passed away. He left one son, 3 daughters, and eleven grand children.
His brother and fellow soldier, David, had died in 1915, and is buried in the IOOF Cemetery in Norman, OK.
