Father of J.O. , M.F. Rachel Evelyn Adams Nelson, Ethel M. Adams Pippin, Sarah Sally Elizabeth Adams Nelson, Louisa C. Adams, Grace L. Adams, Bud Adams, and George W. Adams. George Washington Adams was the son of Moses and Elizabeth Adams. He was born on March 5, 1856, near Galena in Stone county and departed this life on Dec. 15, 1934, aged 78 years, 9 months and 10 days. He died at his home at Elkhead. He was married on Oct. 26, 1880, to Margaret Goodnight. To this union were 11 children were born, three having preceded him in death. Those surviving are Mrs. W.E. Nelson of Ongo, Mrs. J.F. Pippin and Mrs. W.S. Adams of Augusta, Kansas, Mrs. James Nelson of Elkhead, Mrs. J. M. Robinson of Sparta, Mrs. Joe Maggard of Bruner, Mrs. A.E. Adams of Ongo and J.E. Adams of Burton, Kansas.
He professed his faith in Christ and joined the Missionary Baptist church at Antioch many years ago. He later moved his membership to the church at Dogwood where he was a member at death. He had lived a faithful and devoted Christian life. Besides the eight children, he is survived by the widow and 34 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. J.J. Nelson of Oklahoma and a host of other relatives and friends. Although ill for six years he bore his ailment patiently. The remains were laid to rest in the White Oak cemetery on Dec. 17, with services conducted by Rev. John Pruitt.
