Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Thursday , December 18th, 1930 - E.R. King, one of Storm Lake's estimable residents, died at his home at 311 Seneca street Friday afternoon December 12th at 2:30 o'clock, following an illness of some time. He would have been 82 years of age had he lived until December 18th. Mr. King lived in Sac county for many years, moving from there to Storm Lake in 1923. He was well known and held in highest regards by all who knew him.
Elias R King, son of William and Ann King, was born at Bloomington, IL Dec 18, 1818 and at the time of his death was 81 years, 11 months, and 25 days of age.
He grew to manhood at Bloomington, IL and on Jan 15th, 1872 was united in marriage to Carrie Sherman at that place. Mr and Mrs King resided near Blooming until 1694 when they moved to Sac county, IA. In 1895 they moved to their farm home in Delaware township, Sac County, where he spent the best years of his life. In the spring of 1923 they moved to Storm Lake, where they have since resided.
To Mr. and Mrs. King six children were born, one daughter dying at the age of 3 years. The others are: Frank P. King of Sac City and Mrs. C.E. Bethards, Harry King, Oscar King and Mrs. W.F. Hartman, all of Storm Lake.
Besides his wife and children, he leaves to mourn his death 13 grandchidren; 4 great grandchildren; and a half sister, Mrs Amelia DeBolt of Farnhamville, IA.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon December 15 at 2:30 o'clock, from the Methodist Episcopal church, with the Rev. O.M. Bond officiating, and burial was in the local cemetery. Many relatives and friends were in attendance at the funeral, including a number from Sac county and other paints, and the floral offerings were many and beautiful, an evidence of the regard in which Mr. King was held. The bearers were: James, Ed and A.E. Fanning, Bert and Roy Stenhouse and Jess Baker.
