OBITUARY Iron County Reporter March 5 2003 "Obituaries: Steven Tomasoski"
GAASTRA - Steven Tomasoski, 44, of 60 Nowicki Road, died Feb. 27 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis., as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Oconto County. Wis.
He was born May 31, 1958 in Stambaugh, the son of Diane (Bowman) and the late Lawrence Tomasoski. He was a life long resident of Gaastra and graduated from the West Iron County High School in 1976. He first worked at the D.A. MacPherson Company and then at the Groveland Mine. He also worked for Shamion Equipment and for the past 15 years had been employed by the Iron County Road Commission. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, the men's choir of the church, and had served as an usher. He was also a member of the Iron County Ultreya. He had served for over 25 years with the Gaastra, Tri-City, and Caspian-Gaastra Fire Departments. He had also served on the Gaastra City Commission and the West Iron County Sewer Authority Board. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting , fishing and trapping. He also enjoyed music and carpentry and was an avid supporter of local school sports activities. On Aug. 20, 1977 he married the former Kris Cominski and the couple made their home in Gaastra. He will be remembered as a wonderful family man who was kind and compassionate to everyone. He was preceded in death by his father on Jan. 13, 1990.
He is survived by his wife; a son Luke at home; a daughter Lacey at home; his mother of Gaastra; two brothers, Tony (Georgie) of Iron River and Daniel (Theresa) of Eagle River, Wis.; two sisters, Linda (Calvin) Lindberg of Gaastra and Jeannie (Richard) Holm of Gaastra; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation was held March 2 at the Langenberg Funeral Home - Iron River Chapel.
Funeral services were held March 3 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian with the Rev. Fr. Norm Clisch, pastor; Monsignor Timothy Desrochers; and the Rev. Fr. Otto Sartorelli concelebrating the Mass of Christian Burial.
Pallbearers were Joe, Nick and Richard Holm, Matt Begres, Calvin and Ben Lindberg, Al Anderson and Adrian Gansen.
Special music was provided by organist Kristina Korpi and the St. Cecilia Church Men's choir.
Burial will be in the Stambaugh Cemetery.
The family suggests that memorials can be made to the Marygrove Retreat Center in Garden.
