Graveside service for Mrs. Ruby L. (Ponce) Abney, 68, of Nacogdoches will be held on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery with Rev. Bill Hunter officiating.
Ruby was born in Martinsville, Texas on November 24, 1941, the daughter of the late Homer W. and Ruby M. (Green) Langford. Ponce, the name given her by her father and affectionatley called by her family, graduated from Central Heights High school and Massey Business College. Ponce was taught piano by Mrs. Pauline Pate, under her tutelage she became a wonderful pianist. She was a long standing member of Grace Bible Church and was their pianist for many years. Ponce liked to play 42, she enjoyed family get togethers, loved her family tremendously, was outgoing and lived her life to the fullest. She had worked in the research department at Nacogdoches Abstract Company in Nacogdoches and was a long time member of the Saints Gospel Quartet.

Ponce is survived by one son, Shane Abney of Nacogdoches; one sister, Hazel L. Jones of Nacogdoches; one brother, Roy L. Langford of Nacogdoches, and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

She was preceeded in death by parents, Homer and Ruby Langford; brother, Homer Clyde Langford, and a sister, Mary Alice "Sally" Lowery.
