Final rites for Mrs. Mary Jane Smith, 89, of Brookhaven, were held September 19 at 10 a.m. from Hartman's Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Dr. Bob Ramsay officiated at the rites.
Mrs. Smith, a native Lincoln Countian, was the daughter of Anse Thames and Maggie Lee Thames. She was the widow of Jim Smith. She died in a local rest home after a long illness. She was Baptist.
She is survived by a son, Osby Smith, Brookhaven; and three daughters, Mrs. Josie Barlow, Brookhaven, Mrs. Leona Smith, Starkville, Mrs. Fletcher Harvey, Poplarville; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Lee of Brookhaven, and Mrs. Mack Blackwell, Monticello; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
