Mrs. Covington started her career with the telephone company and then went into real estate for over 40 years with Tri-City Realty, Covington Realty and Swearingen Realty. She was a longtime, active and devoted member of Tabb Street Presbyterian Church in Petersburg.
She is survived by her children, Peter W. Covington, III and wife, Valerie of Hardyville, Va., and Lisa C. Lavery and husband, Michael of Midlothian, Va.; grandchildren, Matt Covington of Radford, Va., Sean Lavery and Taylor Lavery of Midlothian; brothers and sisters, Thomas Leonard Kinton, Hester Jones, Jean Shiflett and Joan Kennedy. Preceding her in death were two brothers, Earl Kinton and Elton Kinton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 7, at the Chesterfield Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A graveside funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Memorial Park with the Rev. Troy Kaichen officiating.
