Johann Heinrich Deist, husband of the late Karoline nee, Fischbeck passed away July 9, 1889 after a lingering sickness. Father of Caroline Elizabeth Baumgartner and Anna Catherine Schmidt, both of Baltimore, Maryland.

Mr. John H.Deist died late Tuesday night at his home, No. 4 E. Cross St., aged 59 years, after an illness of two months. By trade Mr. Deist was a tailor, and for thirteen years was president of the Tailors' Association, resigning the position two years ago. Two Married daughters survive him.

His funeral will take place this Friday after noon, July 12, at three o'clock, from his late residence No. 4 E. Cross St. Relative and friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend, without further notice.

The funeral of Jno H. Deist took place from his residence. The pall-bearers were members of Germania Lodge, Knights of Pythias, and Order of the Druids. The Rev. Gustavius Facius officiated. Interment was made in Baltimore Cemetery, Mr Deist as a director of the German Orphan Asylum, for a number years president of the Tailors' Association and past member of the Harmony Singing Society.
