Obituary/funeral sheet:

William C. Pennington was born in Tenn. Aug. 5, 1816 and died at Spencer, Mo. Sept. 14, 1903. In 1835 he moved to Knox Co.,Ill. In 1836 he came to Lawrence Co. In 1839 he married Miss Cynthia Connel who is dead; in this union was born three boys and eight girls, six are dead. He was a good neighbor and friend to the needy. He was called "Uncle Carol", he had no enemies, all friends. A long sufferer, kind friends and affectionate children did all they could to relieve his suffering. The summons had come and he was called home, it was the Lord's will but sad to us all. The burial services by Rev. G. A. De Weese,assisted by Brother W. W. Perry. So many friends at the burial gave evidence of the high regard in which he was held. After the impressive service was gone through, the remains were interred in the Goss Cemetery. Matthew 5:1-16 was read at the grave.
Children were: Adaline, Frankie, Amanda, Malinda, Winfield, Srilda, Rachel, Ransom, Mary, Sarah Jane, and Ace(Asa).
