Carolyn grew up on a farm with 3 brothers and 2 sisters. She attended Carmargo High School and was a cheerleader there.

On Dec. 2, 1950, at the age of 17, she married Jack Omohundro and by the time she was just over 23 years of age she had a newborn (Daniel), a 3 year old (Terry), and a 5 year old (Rick) – all boys. She raised them pretty much alone 5 out of 7 days each week, as Jack's work kept him from home throughout the week.

After her sons started school she begin working outside the home. She worked in several places but most of her working career was at the Bath Co. Clerk's office and several more as an attorney's secretary for Al Conway in Owingsville. When Mr. Conway retired, she came home and continued to prepare income tax returns, a job she had done for Mr. Conway while in his employment.

Some of the things she enjoyed was collecting and refinishing antique furniture, doing different types of crafts, going to yard sales, and traveling with and playing cards with her friends. Those she considered good friends and card buddies were Marcene Frizzell, Jewell McKenzie, Nancy Powell, Charlene Runner, and Maxine Wright.

Her favorite times of the year were Thanksgiving and especially Christmas, certainly not because of the weather, but because it was a time for a family gathering. She especially enjoyed this time because it was one of the few times a year when all her children and grandchildren were home at one time.

After Jack passed away in 2002, she retreated to herself and her home. She kept abreast of the outside world thru phone calls and visits from family and friends, her weekly trip to Morehead with Rick, and thru the almost daily visits from another good friend, Callie Sue Bonta.

Although she had no daughters, she had 2 nieces that loved and cared for her as much as any daughters could, Joan Shepherd and Teresa Alexander. Teresa came every two weeks to clean her house and most always brought her mom, Carolyn's sister, Lula Chandler with her for a visit. Teresa would spend all day and oftentimes into the night cleaning and visiting. Carolyn always looked forward to this visit and it is suspected that Teresa may have stretched out her work in order to give Lula and Carolyn longer to spend together.

After Carolyn went into the hospital and later to Windsor Care, Joan and Teresa rarely missed a day checking on her. Joan did all her laundry and she and Teresa were always bringing her food. Even when she wouldn't eat, this did not keep them from doing it all over again the next day. Carolyn was very blessed to have these two in her life and Rick believes his mother thought of them as daughters she never had.

Carolyn was a member of the Salt Lick Christian Church and attended regularly with Jack (husband), Rick (son), Nancy (daughter in law), and Brandon (grandson) for many years.

Carolyn's mother Thelma chose the following verses to be read at her funeral and those same verses were read at Carolyn's funeral as well. John 14: 19,20 and 27,28.
