Jacob Donald Scheuermann, 87, died Nov. 30, 2009, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. He was born Dec. 27, 1921, in Hutchinson, to Jacob Donald and Leta Smith Scheuermann. He graduated in 1942, from Hutchinson High School. He was a former parts man for International Harvester, A.D. Rayl Ford, and Davis-Child Chevrolet, before retiring from PMS Foods in 1987. He belonged to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and then later in the National Guard.

On Oct. 2, 1952, he married Barbara June Chase, in Hutchinson. She died Oct. 9, 2007. Survivors include: sons, Don, and Thomas, both of Hutchinson; daughter, Kathy Zimmerman, Norwalk, Calif.; a brother, Raymond, Bison; sisters, Helen Hackney, Coldwater, and Elnora Unruh, Hutchinson; three grandsons, Jacob Espinoza, Jadon Espinoza, and Justin Zimmerman.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Scheuermann, two brothers, Clarence, and LeRoy, and a sister, Leona Williams.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday Dec. 4, 2009, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Thomas B. Mendenhall presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, with military graveside rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Memorials may be sent to the church, in care of the mortuary.
