In this city, 29th inst., Eveline F. Bean, daughter of John D. and Lovina C. Bean, aged 17 years 7 months 22 days. [Funeral Thursday afternoon at 2 1/2 o'clock from No. 15 Green Street, Relatives and friends invited to attend]
Her Record of Burials:1873-1885 Vol. 7 Pg 25 records her interment on October 1, 1874 and place of burial at West Cemetery Portland, ME recorded 1874. Why it records her as being buried in West Cemetery when her headstone is located at South Portland is a mystery. Her body may have been moved later to be with her mother, step-father, brothers Edward Everett and Lucien L. who are buried around her.
According to Western Cemetery, Portland, Maine records, Eveline was interred at Western Cemetery. It appears that Eveline's remains were moved here to the Browns Hill Cemetery at some point in time (or, in the alternative, that she never was buried in the Western Cemetery in Portland, in which case the Western Cemetery records would be in error). The memorial at Western Cemetery is being retained there in light of the Western Cemetery records indicating her burial there.
