Formerly of Pauline Ave. Pine City, passed away Monday November 30, 2009 with her loving family at her side. Born on September 2, 1925 in Sylvania, PA, Dorothy was the daughter of the late George & Allene Bailey Keyes. Surviving are her 6 children, eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cherished family friends. Dorothy loved caring for her pets, Princess, Butch, Tinkerbell, Sugar, Brandy, Molly, Dolly and Simon. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her first husband, George W. Roe and she was the last of five siblings. Dorothy passed away a day before her second husband, Laverne E. Knapp, his children and their families also survive. A homemaker and devoted mother, Dorothy was active in the Elmira and Horseheads Moose Club where she held many chairs including Senior Regent, a member of the Eastern Star where she earned her Worthy Matrin Degree and was also a past District Grand Deputy, and a Matron in Queen Frederica Court #22. Dorothy was an avid doll collector which she was so very proud of. Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport on Thursday, December 3, 2009 between the hours of 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Funeral Services will take place at the funeral home on Friday morning at 11 a.m. with pastor Mark Ervay officiating. Graveside services will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her former husband, George W. Roe. Star-Gazette 1Dec2009
