Wayne Clayton "Booger" Alford, 54, of Palatka, went to be with his lord and savior on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at his home following an extended yet courageous battle against cancer and a dying desire to be with our Lord.

Wayne, affectionately known as Booger and Frecklebird, was born in Loris, S.C., May 7, 1955, to Ebbie and Louise Alford. He was the quarterback of Central High School and a baseball player from 1972 to 1974. Early on in life, he was a military police with the U.S. Army and later was employed at Seminole Electric. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Bardin and was a 1974 graduate of Palatka Central High School. He faced many challenges in life, but will always be remembered as a loving dad and a devout Christian.


Wayne will meet many loved ones at Heaven's gate including his dad, Ebbie Alford; his sister, Yvonne Carole Alford Feaster; brother, Reggie Alford; sister-in-law, Betty Jean Alford and his niece Regina Alford May.

He leaves behind many loved ones to mourn his passing including his mother, Louise Alford; his three children, daughter, Lindsey Wimberley and husband, Charles; son, Gabe Alford and youngest daughter, Chelsi Alford; his dear friend and mother of his children, Lisa Vaught; brothers, Rick Alford and wife, Peggy, Timmy Alford and wife, Martha, Stevie Alford and wife, Debbie and David Bill Feaster and companion, Kim; sister, Gloria Alford; nephews, Scott Alford and wife Sherri, and Stevie Alford; nieces, Wendy Gregory and husband, Mack, Paige Visitin and husband, Jim, Sam Alford, Shanna Alford, Kanyon Szilva and husband, Peter, Rachel Wilkinson and husband, Daniel, Kendall Alford, and Kaylee Alford; six great nephews; three great nieces; one great-great-nephew; one great-great-niece, along with his first expected grandson, Bryce Wimberley and family friend, Debbie Chesser.

Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 at Bethany Baptist Church in Bardin with the Rev. Glenn Martin and the Rev. Mitchell Johns officiating. The U.S. Army will conduct military honors. Burial will take place in Etoniah Cemetery in Bardin at a later date. In celebration of his life a memorial video will be shown.
