John Anderson Vest was born on 15 Mar 1887, a son of Edward Anderson Vest and Virginia Frances Farley Vest.

His birth was recorded in Summers County, W.Va. According to his obituary, Mr. Vest was a life-long Raleigh County, W.Va., resident.

He died on 08 Aug 1957 in an area hospital after suffering a stroke.

Mr. Vest was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles Isaac Vest and William Howard Vest; and three sisters, Mary Vest Persinger, Rhoda Elizabeth Vest Lucas, and Clara Alice Vest Jordan.

He was survived by brother James Ballard Vest and sister Sarah Vest Massie.

Funeral services were held in the Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church at Beaver, Raleigh County, with Elder Eli Lilly and Elder Kenneth Lilly officiating. Burial was in the Anderson Vest Cemetery, Summers County, W.Va. (Also known as the Via Cemetery.)
