Joan Steinkuhler, 80, of Quincy, formerly of Camp Point, died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 29, 2009) in Blessing Hospital in Quincy. Born June 21, 1929, in Timewell,a daughter of Alvoid and Lillian G. Mullen Edmonson.

She married Richard H. Vollbracht on Feb. 14, 1948, in the First Christian Church in Quincy.

She later married Wilbur J. Steinkuhler on July 16, 1966, in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clayton. He died April 10, 1992.

Joan was a 1947 graduate of Quincy Senior High School and a past member of the Alumni Association. Joan was also an active member past member of the Eastern Star in Camp Point, Illinois

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Camp Point but was baptized in the First Christian Church in Quincy.
She enjoyed singing in the choir and working in the Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for several years and a former member of RSVP and enjoyed singing with the Volunteer Voices for many years, a group she enjoyed very much.

Joan was employed for five years at K-mart and also at Bergner's for nine years. She worked for several years at the Gifts and More Shop in Camp Point owned by Dorothy Obert.
Survivors include a daughter:

Joan is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren and a very close to a niece, Genny Edmonson of Rockport, Illinois, a nephew, Richard Edmonson (Judy) of Rockport, Illinois

Two nieces, Mrs. Rodney (Sarajane) Meyers of Bloomington, Minn., and Mrs. Dale (Susan) Seyller of Poplar Grove
Two nephews, David Edmonson (Jody) of Rochester, Minn., and Donald Edmonson of Hampshire.
Many other nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Billy Wayne Edmonson and Richard Lee Edmonson; a sister, Mattie Joyce Edmonson in infancy; and a great-grandson, Korbin Dallmier who died in infancy.
