Carl J. Martin, 78, died Saturday at Parkview Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Bartruff officiating. Burial will be in Glasgow Cemetery. He was born on April 29, 1901 near Glasgow, the son of Gilbert and Dollie (Hall) Martin. He married Delpha Nichols on January 24, 1931. She died on May 23, 1965. A retired mechanic with Triangle Construction Company, he had been a lifetime resident of the Glasgow community. He is survived by three daughters, Evelyn Gordy of Davenport, and Carol Liblin and Maxine Litton, both of Fairfield; three sons, Wayne Martin of Toledo, Thomas Martin of Burlington, and Earl Martin of Mitchellville; four sisters, Nora Harbour of Grinnell, Thelma Casteel of Burlington, Maude Opdahl of Sauk Centre, Minnesota, and Merle Hartley of Batavia; one brother, Glenn Martin of Fairfield; fourteen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
