C. E. Barnett, an influential citizen of the Weakley community, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Willie Wheeler, near Pulaski, on Saturday, November 26, as the result of a complication of diseases and the infirmities of age. The burial took place at Pleasant Hill, about 12 miles south of Pulaski, Mr. Barnett was 71 years of age the day he died, and was surrounded by his surviving children, namely: James Barnett of New Orleans, Mrs. Joe Meadows of Columbia, Joe Barnett of Birmingham, Mrs. Clint Ball of Dry Weakley, Walker Barnett of this city and Mrs. Willie Wheeler or near Pulaski. Deceased was a member of the Baptist Church, and a splendid type of gentleman of the old school. He was for a number of years a prominent business man in Lawrenceburg as he at one time was in the grocery business on the west side of the square. Thirty years ago , a notice of the illness of his wife, Mr. Barnett at that time was a candidate for the Democratic nomination for trustee of the county. For several years he has been engaged in farming in the Weakley community. Mr. Barnett was an honest and conscientious citizen, honorable and upright in his community. His wife died several years ago, he being survived by three sons and three daughters, who have the sympathy of many friends.
