Born of a farming family in Virginia, Robert and his 2 brothers all went West. Each of them became restaurant owners/operators. Robert married Carol Green, and was father to 6 children. Robert managed his restaurant in Salt Lake City for decades.

Obituary: Robert Patterson Morgan, 68, former restaurant owner and former harbor master of Salt Lake County boat harbor, died Sunday at 11:30 a.m. in a Salt Lake nursing home of a heart ailment.

Mr. Morgan was a manager and director in the restaurant business, owning and operating several restaurants, including the old Utah, Oak and Morgan's Cafes.

He was employed by Salt Lake County at the boat harbor on the shores of Great Salt Lake from 1941 to 1953. He retired due to illness. He was active in political circles all his life, holding offices within the Democratic Party organization.

Born Sept. 8, 1885, in Jonesville, Va., he was a son of Henry and Margaret Jane Snodgrass Morgan. On Feb. 22, 1912, he married Carol Christine Green in Salt Lake City. The family home is at 824 8th east.

Survivors include his widow; two sons, Robert P. Morgan Jr., Salt Lake City; C. Roland Morgan, Ogden; four daughters, Mrs. Reed (Virginia) Duke, Mrs. Daniel (Verna) Kranendonk, Mrs. Myron (Helen) Dean all of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Hugh (Wanda) Dale, San Diego, Cal., and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday noon at 260 E. South Temple, where friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday until services.
Burial will be in Salt Lake City Cemetery.
