Junior Albert "Butch" Payne was born November 15, 1932 in Ogden, Weber, Utah to Albert Marx Payne and Sallie Viana Denson Payne. He was the youngest of eleven children. He grew up in Ogden, and graduated from Ogden High School.
He joined the Navy in 1951-1954. He served in the Korean War.
He married Cheryl Kay Hill in 1955 and from that union he had two daughters, Lorraine and LaNae. Cheryl passed away in 1964.
He married Carolyn Johnson in 1965 and from that union they had two children, Jacki and Jason.
He was an assistant superintendent for Gibbons and Reed Construction for 17 years. He also owned Big Three Asphalt Paving. He then worked for the SP railroad. He also worked for DLA at HAFB, retiring in 1995. He joined the Roy City Parks Department and worked there until he became ill in 2006.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Ogden where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed many hobbies. He loved to camp, fish, hunt, and all sports, and was a gloden glove boxer while in the navy. His most favorite pas time was being with family and friends.
