Roy C. Seay of Welch died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005, at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami after a long illness. He was 89.

Seay was born Aug. 7, 1916, in Gravette, Ark., to John Dempsey and Sarah Alice (Morrison) Seay. He attended school in Miami. He moved northwest of Welch in 1964.

He was a World War II veteran of the Army and was permanently disabled in the Battle of St. Lo in France. After spending 22 months in a military hospital in San Antonio, Texas, he returned to the Miami area.

He owned a farm northwest of Welch. He was a long-time member of the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Miami.

He married Gladys Stanton on Sept. 27, 1947, in Pineville, Mo. She survives, of the home.

Additional survivors include two sons, Roy Frank Seay and his wife Christine of Niangua, Mo., and John Seay of the home; two daughters, Cassandra Brooks of Caney, Kan., and Nancy Seay of Dewey, 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and three sisters.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Thomas Funeral Home in Welch with the Rev. Bob Barker officiating. Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.

Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 147 Funeral Detail of Miami.

Pallbearers will be George Hood, John Hood, Ricky Siegel, Larry Collins, Denny McCord and Bob Moore.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
