He graduated from Myrtle Creek High School and went on to graduate from Oregon State College at Corvallis, Oregon as a Pharamacist. World War I was in progress and he enlisted in the Army at Portland, Oregon and was assigned to the Vancouver Washington Barracks as a Pharmacist in the General Hospital. During this period he asked for a leave of absense to manage a drug store in East
Portland and while working there he developed scialica Rheumatism in his hip and was taken to the army hospital in Vancouver where they operated on him. Blood
poisoning developed and he died and was buried at the Myrtle Creek Cemetery. A tragic end to a wonderful person.
