THOMAS D. CALKINS
Funeral services have been scheduled for Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. for Thomas D. Calkins, 86, who died at Memorial Hospital on Nov. 16. The services will be at Anderson Funeral Home and interment will be at Idlewild Cemetery.
Mr. Calkins, who was born Sept. 22, 1878 in Emporia, Kan., had lived in Hood River for the past 75 years, owning and operating a nursery farm for many of those years at his home on Rt. 3.
His immediate survivor is his wife, Edna of Hood River.
Mr. Calkins was affiliated with the Knight of Pythias lodge.

FRANKTON – Tom Calkins, the man hundreds of people depended on to provide them with productive vegetable and flower plants through the years, died Monday at Memorial Hospital. Mr. Calkins tired from his business something over a year ago and had been inactive for the past year.
Death came after a fall at his home last Saturday, in which he suffered a hip fracture. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today (Thursday), at Anderson Funeral Home.
