From the Saline (Michigan) Observer, Thursday, November 15, 1894:
Mrs. Bauer Dead
"Cathrinn (sic), wife of Goetlog (sic) Bauer, died at her home, four miles west of this village at 2:30 Monday afternoon. She was born July 4th 1850 in Lodi township. At the age of 22 she was married to her surviving husband and with him commenced life’s cares on the farm now owned by Geo. Hack. She had been confined to her bed five weeks, the first two of which she was quite a sufferer. The funeral was held at the house this forenoon and the remains placed in Oakwood vault. A bereaved husband, five children and three brothers, J.M., Fred and Geo. Gross survive her."
