Mrs. Difendaffer Dies After Many Months of Illness
An illness which gradually sapped her life away since June of last year was ended at noon Friday, December 19, when death came quietly and peacefully to Mrs. E. E. Diffendaffer, at the home of her son-Marcus. Though she remained cheerful and hoepful through it all death came as a blessing to end her long suffering and disability.
Mrs. Diffendaffer was born in Crawford county, Indiana, but had lived in Buffalo county for a great many years. She was born on Sept. 16, 1865 and was a few months past 65 years of age when she died.
Mrs. Eliza E. (Wiseman) Diffendaffer was the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. John Wiseman, and came with her parents to Missouri when she was two years of age. Eight years later they came to Buffalo couty living three and one half miles northwest of Ravenna in 1877.
She was married November 23, 1886 to J. G. Diffendaffer who survivies her adn is living at Valentine, Nebraska.
Six children were born to them all of whom are living. James who lived at Minatare, Nebr.; Alma, who is teaching school at Chadron, Nebr.; Mrs. Ethel Newberg of Denver; Clifford of Cherry county, Nebr.; Mrs. Ruth Knerl of Ravenna adn Mareus also of Ravenna.
In addition she leaved three brothers and three half-brothers to mourn her passing: Orville Wiseman of Ravenna; Alonzo Wiseman of Caldwell, Idaho; and Alva Wiseman of northern Idaho; C.N. (Charles Nathanial) Davidson of Ravenenna; George Davidson of Jonesboro Ark; and Daniel Davidson of Caldwell, Idaho. One cousin, William Fowler of Ravenna. 13 grandchildren and a large number of friends in and near this city will mourn this going away of Mrs. Diffendaffer.
She was covnverted and united with the Methodist church in her girlhood days and has been a member of the Methodist church in Ravenna for more than twenty years.
For the past year or two she had lived with her daughter southeast of Ravenna and with her son in this city at which place she died.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church with Rev. W. L. Austin in charge of the services. Internment was made in Highland Cemetery.
