Death of Mrs. Swartz-Snyder
Mrs. Ethel May Swartz-Snyder passed away
at the Kearney hospital Wednesday of this
week, April 15, after a ten day illness following
a period of declining health. She was 66 years
of age at her death.
Ethel May Highland, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Highland, was born at Storm
Lake, Ia. on March 7, 1887. She moved to
this community when a very small child with
her parents and lived here the remainder of her
life.
On October 4, 1905, she was united in
marriage with Harry Swartz and to this union
were born three sons and one daughter. Mr.
Swartz passed away on November 3, 1934.
Her marriage to Albert Snyder occurred on
March 7, 1935.
Surviving are her husband, Albert Snyder;
three sons, Francis C. Swartz of Grand Island,
Cecil L. Swartz of Ceresco, Nebr. and Melvin
L. Swartz of Lonoke, Ark.; one daughter,
Alma Ruth Lodwig of Grand Island; one step
daughter, Mrs. Frank Sherman of Rockville;
and seven grandchildren, besides many friends
and acquaintances.
Funeral services will be held at the
Methodist church in Ravenna at 2 p.m. Friday
afternoon, April 17, with burial at Highland
cemetery. Rev. W. W. Leypoldt will be in
charge of the services.
The family has requested that no flowers be
sent, but that donations be made to the Cancer
Fund.
The sons, daughter and grandchildren of the
deceased were all here this week, and it is the
first time they have all been together since
1934.
