Daniel was the son of James Arline (1798 - 1871) and Elizabeth Ricks (1802 - 1879).

Daniel Henry Arline served in the 2nd Regiment Florida Cavalry Company D during the Civil War. Daniel enlisted in the service of the Confederate States Army in May of 1863 and was honorably discharged at Thomasville, Georgia, in April 1865, "on account of the close of the war". Daniel served in Virginia and Maryland for about 21 months and also served in Florida. Daniel was a veteran of the battles of Yorktown, Williamsburg, Seven Pines, Malvern Hill, Fredricksburg, Sharpsburg, and Boonesboro. He was captured at the Battle of Sharpsburg on Sept. 17, 1862, and imprisoned at Ft. Delaware. At the close of the war he was located at Baldwin, FL.

Daniel first married Sarah Elizabeth Mansfield Johnson but the date is unknown. She passed away in 1878 and is buried in a little family burying ground at Susan Hardee's old home place at or near Chiefland. Daniel and Sarah had the following children:

Richard Arthur ARLINE: 12 Mar 1874, Mitchell Co., GA - 28 Nov 1942, Bold Springs, Thomas Co., GA.
Ida Elizabeth ARLINE: date unknown - died in infancy.

Daniel next married Missouri Virginia Wheeler STEPHENS on 21 Jan 1879 in Fort Fanning, FL. Missouri was born 15 Jan 1860 in Jasper, Hamilton, Florida and died 2 Nov 1939 in Raiford, Union, FL. She is buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery next to her husband.
