A GOOD MAN GONE

At his residence in this city last Friday evening, Mr. T. J. Hancher passed away at the ripe old age of 83.

Deceased had been in apparently good health, and on the day of his passing, had continued his work about the place as usual, with no warning of the rapidly approaching end of his earthly existence.

He was an excellent Christian gentleman, whom to know was to love and respect.

Thomas J. Hancher was born in the State of Ohio, March 25th, 1836. Died in El Campo, Texas March 28th, 1919, age 83 years and three days.

In the year 1858, at Princeton Illinois, he was united in marriage to Fanny Jane Winkler who survives him.

To the union was born three children, Elba Hancher Allison, deceased in 1903, E. G. Hancher of El Campo and Jeannette Hancher Titus of Galveston, Texas.

Grandpa Hancher spent more than fifty years of his life in the State of Iowa, coming to El Campo, Texas, four and one-half years ago. He was a pioneer of both the States of Iowa and Illinois.

He lived a very active and useful life to the very hour of his death; he was a faithful Christian husband and father, having united with the Christian Church nearly sixty years ago. For many years he was an officer in the great University Place Church of Christ, Des Moines, Iowa.

The funeral service was conducted from the Christian Church Sunday afternoon by Rev. Arrowood, and the remains interred at the O.D.H.S. Cemetery.
