RESIDENT OF 36 YEARS DIES
Mrs. E. G. Hancher Always Took Deep Interest In Civic Affairs
Mr. E. G. Hancher, 50, ardent lover of flowers and music, who had been an active member of the Garden Club ever since it was organized, died early Wednesday in Nightingale hospital following an illness of several months. She had been in ill health for two years.
Mrs. Hancher was born Clara Augusta Ladd, May 17, 1887, in Clay county, Kansas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Ladd. She came to El Campo in 1910 and married Mr. Hancher on June 18, 1913 here.
During all her residence here she was an enthusiastic worker in the First Christian Church. She likewise maintained an interest in all civic affairs, but was particularly devoted to music and the programs of the Garden Club. Mrs. Hancher was a deep student of plant life and was recognized locally as an authority on flowers.
Services will be held Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the First Christian church with the pastor, S. A. Crouch officiating. Burial will be in the O.D.H.S. Garden of Memories with the Wheeler Funeral Home in charge.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons: Ladd of El Campo and John of Columbus; one grandchild Thomas Beattie Hancher of Columbus.
