While she was living with us at Lovington she told me of her and her family's move by covered wagon from Texas up into the Indian Territory of Oklahoma. She was a young girl around 9 or 10 and she told of her and her sister sleeping inside the covered wagon at night while her parents slept on the ground under the wagon. She said she was afraid because she heard that Oklahoma was full of wild Indians. One night she awoke to see a figure coming through the opening at the back of the wagon which she was sure was an Indian. It turned out to be one of their horses that had stuck it's head inside the wagon.
Story by her grandson Jimmie Graham of Washington State. (Posted 11-28-2009)
