Mr Julius P. Browne has passed away at the age of 70.
Mr. Julius P. Browne, a well known citizen of this city died at his late residence. No 131 Smith street yesterday. At the time of his death Mr. Browne was 70 years old and during his life time enjoyed excellent health. For many years Mr. Browne has been connected with the Charleston Crockery Company and was a highly trusted employee. His last sickness was of short duration, being confined to his bed only a few days. Mr Browne as a Confederate Veteran, with a fine record in the army, and was a staunch member of Camp Sumter United Confederate Veterans.

He was a member of the 5th Regiment of South Cavalry (Ferguson's) Company D. He was also a member of the 1st Regiment of South Carolina Artillery (Militia). While he was with this unit he was promoted to Fist Sergeant.
