Married Minnie August 7, 1898 in Oklahoma.
Cole's services were held on a Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Lone Grove School. He died on a Monday afternoon in a local hospital after a long illness.
Dr. Virgil Alexander of the First Methodist Church conducted the services and was assisted by the Rev. Walter Douglas of Wilson.
The Lone Grove Masonic Lodge Number 25 had charge of the graveside rites. Harveys made burial arrangements.
A native of Montague County, Texas, Johnson had lived most of his life in Carter County. He served four terms as County Commissioner beginning in 1932.
He was a 40-year Mason, a past worshipful master of the Lone Grove Lodge and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Johnson had lived in Carter County 60 years.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah, 412 Wheeler Southwest; five sons, Guy and Fred, Ardmore; Carl, Wilmington, California; Gurney, Hoisington, Kansas; J.L., Lone Grove; three daughters, Mrs. A.C.
