Vernon Kraai, 83

Vernon T. Kraai, 83, of Holland, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, in Holland Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, in 1992.

A graduate of Holland High School and Hope College, he was a lifelong resident of Holland and was a member of Fellowship Reformed Church. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served in World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 6 for 60 years.

He was co-owner of Holland Transplanter Co., retiring in 1986 after 35 years of employment.

He is survived by his daughters, Debra Kraai of Holland, and Janice Kraai of White Mountain Lake, Ariz.; three granddaughters; brother, Glenn and Gert Kraai of Lansing; sisters, Arlene Wassink of Holland, Thelma and Don Nederhoed of Portage, Sharon and Marvin Overway of California, and Carol and Sid Vande Vusse of Hesperia; in-laws, Chuck and Arlene Knooihuizen of Zeeland, Howard and Jeanne Poll of Holland, Shirley Franklin of Battle Creek, Judy and Larry Kolb of Missoula, Mont., and Marilyn and Charles Hiemstra of Ada; nieces and nephews.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Fellowship Reformed Church, 300 N. 168th Ave., with the Rev. James Baar Jr. officiating.

Visitation is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Mulder Chapel, Dykstra Life Story Funeral Homes, 188 W. 32nd St.

Burial will take place in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association or the American Lung Association.
