George Washington Breshears was born on October 22, 1925 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to George & Edna Breshears. He went to be with the Lord on June 8, 2009 in Visalia, CA.
George grew up in Arkansas. He came to California as a young man, met his future bride, Iva Lenora Cochran, and the couple married in Visalia in 1944. The couple had 5 children. George worked as a bus driver and custodian for Visalia School District and Exeter schools for a number of years. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church, Farmersville. His wife, Iva preceded him in death in January of 2008, as well as a son Ricky in 1999.
Survivors include his son, Charles Breshears and wife, Melva, Visalia; Phyllis Owens and husband, Dale, Oregon; Alan Breshears and wife, Sandy, Visalia and Michael Breshears, Visalia; brother, Paul Breshears, Visalia; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Graveside Services are being held on Monday, June 15, 2009, 10:30 a.m. at the Visalia District Cemetery. Visitation is held on Sunday, June 14, 2009, 2-7 p.m. at Miller Memorial Chapel. Condolences may be made at www.mem.com
