Death claimed a Bay Springs matron, Mrs. Susan Elizabeth Strickland Jernigan, Friday in a Meridian hospital. She was 73 years old.

Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Smith County. The Rev. C.D. Parker will officiate, and assisting will be the Revs. George Boyd and Jodie Ishee.

Interment will be in the Mt. Nebo cemetery, with Memory Chapel in charge. Pallbearers will be grandsons, J.D. Jernigan, Thaddeus Anderson, X.V. Anderson, Claud Ishee, Harvey Strickland and Junior Strickland.

Surviving are her huband, J.S. Jernigan, Bay Springs; two daughters, Mrs. Otha Anderson, Bay Springs, Mrs. Homer Anderson, Raleigh; two sons, Dewey Jernigan and Johnny Jernigan, Bay Springs; 20 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter; two brothers, Walter Strickland and Bradford Strickland, Sylvarena; three sisters, Mrs. Josephine Coley, Laurel, Mrs. Ann Sherman and Mrs. Inez Perry, Soso.

Mrs. Jernigan was borin in Smith County on April 9, 1883.
