Gladys Jean Norberg was born December 11, 1929 in Burke, South Dakota the only daughter of Harold, Sr. and Gladys (Hill) Gunvordahl. She died April 29, 2009 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Burke, South Dakota at the age of 79 years.
Jean attended school and graduated from Burke High School and the University of South Dakota. She taught school in Pickstown, Gregory, Casper, Wyoming and in Burke. She then worked for the City of Burke in the finance office for 16 years, a job she truly loved.
Jean was united in marriage to Wayne Norberg on March 15, 1958. They were both members of the Baptist Church in Burke where Jean taught Sunday School, Bible School and led the Junior Choir for three years. She was a Past Matron of the Eastern Star and Past President of the Burke Women's Club.
In 1963, Wayne and Jean welcomed their daughter, Amy Jean Norberg.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Amy and husband Rich, and her granddaughters. She is also survived by several other relatives and friends.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne and by two brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Union Baptist Church in Burke. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Burke. Visitation will be prior to the services on Saturday at the Church.
