Newspaper obituary published in the "Utica Herald-Dispatch", Utica, NY, Monday Evening, April 9, 1906:
"Lyman W. Anderson.
Clayville, April 9.--Cancer of the throat caused the death of Lyman W. Anderson at his home here late Saturday afternoon. The ailment followed an attack of the grip.
Mr. Anderson was born in Sauquoit, November 14, 1839, and came to this village with his parents when a small boy. He enlisted in the Civil War August 22, 1861, with the New York State Volunteers, One Hundred and Seventeenth regiment, Company G. and employed for many years in the Millard Tool Works. For the past dozen years he had been in the service of the village corporation. He was a member of G. W. Chadwick Post G.A.R. No. 413, and also a member of Sauquoit Lodge F.&A.M., No 150. Besides his wife he leaves four children, Mrs. M. J. Congdon of Utica, Charles A. Anderson of Fort Madison, Ia., Mrs. Minnie Alcutt of Sauquoit, and Miss Anna G. Anderson of Utica, and one brother, Amos B. Anderson of Cassville."
