Lenna P. Strait, 85, former Lebanon Community in Van Buren County, died at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 16, 1983 at the Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield.
She had been a resident at the Nelson Nursing Home for the past year.
Lenna Strait was born July 9, 1897, in Van Buren County, the daughter of John and Melissa Koontz Bingaman. She married to Lee H. Strait June 11, 1919, at Keosauqua. He died May 28, 1970.
After living on a farm in the Lebanon area, she made her home in Arizona for 27 years. She was a member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Enid Baity of Mesa and Mrs. Iris Lyon of Fairfield, Other survivors include six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a brother Donald Bingaman, Douds and three sisters, Lulu Hedge, Williamsburg; Ethel Kirkhart, Cantril and Greta Rider, Keosauqua.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Strait was preceded in death by one son, one sister and two brothers.
Services were held Jan. 18, 1983 at the Lebanon Methodist Church, with Behner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements, Dr. Chris Daniel officiated and burial was in the Lebanon Cemetery.
