Services for Barbara Wininger will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at Hart Memorial Chapel with Joe Smith officiating. Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell. Barbara Ann Bolin Wininger was born December 17, 1935 to Jim and Annie (Johnson) Bolin in Muskogee, OK. She passed away November 22, 2009, in Tulsa, OK at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 5 days. Barbara moved to Stilwell, from Muskogee, Oklahoma where she was born. Even though Stilwell was not her birthplace, she lived here so long it was home to her. She received her early education in Muskogee and Phoenix, Arizona. Barbara's family moved to the Stilwell area, even though they did not have friends or relatives in the area. They bought land and raised acres of strawberries and cattle. She finished the last part of grade school at a rural school and went to Stilwell High School. Barbara was baptized at Four Corners Church of Christ in Stilwell the summer of 1951 at the age of 15. While in high school she met Bud Wininger and they married June 20, 1953. A few months after they married, Bud was drafted in the Army and stationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. Michael D. their first son was born in the Ft. Bragg Army Hospital. After the service they moved back to Stilwell and bought a farm at Bunch, OK. While living there, Ronald D. their second son was born in the Stilwell Hospital. Bud went back into the service and was stationed at Ft. Sill Army Base in Lawton, OK. While living at Lawton, Barbara went to the Lawton Beauty College and received her Beautician and Cosmetology license. Barbara, Bud and sons moved back to Stilwell. They built a home and shortly after had their third child, Lynnette K. born in the Stilwell Hospital. A beauty shop was built by their home and she operated Barbara's Beauty Shop for 20 years. At age 41, Barbara went back to college at Northeastern State University at Tahlequah and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Home Economics. She then went to Central State at Edmond, OK and received her Vocational degree in Home Economics. She also received her masters in Junior College Education to teach Junior College. Barbara attended Arizona State University and worked on her Doctorate to teach at the University level. She taught home economics at the high school level, and at Maryetta School she taught the first computer class as well as Science and organized the first Science Fair that later became the Adair County Science Fair. In 1985, Barbara was hired by the State Department in Oklahoma City as a Child Nutrition Consultant for six counties. She worked twelve and one-half years and retired in 1998 where she became active in several community organizations. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and doing community work at the Historical Society and Old Stilwell Depot as well as volunteering at the Chamber of Commerce. Barbara was the coordinator for the Adair County Trash-off for twelve years. She was president of the Adair County HCE Extension group and earned several blue ribbons at the county fair. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Annie Bolin, her husband of 54 years, Bud Wininger, two brothers, John and Roy Bolin. She is survived by her three children,, Mike Wininger of Stilwell, Ron and Wife, Diana Wininger, of Sallisaw, Lynnette Wininger-Butler and fiancée, Randy Hammock, of Tahlequah, OK, special nephew, Shane Saucier of Houston, TX, twelve grandchildren, Brandon Fourkiller and wife, Mel, Sara Wininger, Amanda Long and husband, Hank, all of Stilwell, Leslie Alexander-Rowe and husband, Shawn of Ft. Gibson, Adam Alexander and wife Kelly, of Carrollton, TX, Stephen, Courtney and Autumn Wininger of Sallisaw, Bethany Butler and fiancée, Zack Morgan, Brooke, Bridgette and Samantha Butler, all of Tahlequah, OK. 12 great grandchildren, three sisters, Faye Holmes, of Tulsa, OK, Alberta Richards-Comacho and Lee, of Oklahoma City, OK, Lois Hrinya and husband, Bernie, of Tulsa, one sister-in-law, Lorraine Mangrum, Muskogee, OK, several very special cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
