Death of Mrs. Montgomery

Mrs. Edwena C. Montgomery died at her home at Springfield Tuesday of this week.

For a number of years, Mrs. Montgomery's health had been failing in that time suffering several attacks from which it was believed for a while she could not recover, however, her great will power combined with other agencies had been the means of her partial recovery. Even in her frailest moments Mrs. Montgomery would not surrender, looking after her domestic affairs with devotion and pleasure.

For a long time Mrs. Montgomery lived in the Bixlers Ferry neighborhood occupying what is known as the 'Tharpe Place' now owned by N. T. Sedwick. Disposing of this place, she removed to Springfield 15 to 20 years ago, where she has been living ever since. The deceased was a consistent member of the Methodist Church.

Her husband, Millard Montgomery long since dead. Before her marriage Mrs. Montgomery was Miss Edwena Sedwick daughter of the late G. W. Sedwick of the Fletchers Chapel neighborhood.

Her surviving brothers are G. W., B. B., N. T., and M. G. Sedwick of the county. Mrs. Montgomery is survived by two children, Ernest Jackson Montgomery of Springfield and Mrs. D. S. Mahaffey who with her husband is now in India engaged in missionary work.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. G. Hemintoller on Wednesday afternoon at Fletchers Chapel, the interment taking place near by. Mrs. Montgomery was 69 years of age.
