Rev. Andrew J. McCreery, 95, former Methodist minister and resident of Claremont Township for the past 41 years, died Saturday evening.

He had been in ill health for a long time. His home was just north of the Shell Truck Stop, Rt. 2, Olney.

Rev. McCreery was born Aug. 22, 1870 in Jackson, Michigan, son of John Breece and Julia Emery McCreery.

He became a minister in early life and was an evangelist, holding a number of charges in the northern section of Illinois. His wife, Mamie, died June 30, 1965. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Olney, at the time of his death.

His survivors include his daughter, Miss Alberta McCreery of Rt. 2 Olney and his son, William R. McCreery of Rt. 3, Fredericktown, Missouri; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

It has been requested by the family, that friends wishing to offer memorials may do so in the form of gifts to the McCreery Memorial Fund for the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Funeral services for Rev. McCreery will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wed. in the Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Glenn L. Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Schaub Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Tuesday, until noon on Wednesday, when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state.
