John Henry Horton and his wife with five of their six children came to Hardeman county in 1889 from Farmersville, Texas. They settled on the Charlie Herndon placed eight miles northwest of Goodlett. This place later belonged to C.C. Crumpton. The Hortons made a good crop and were able to file on the J.H. Gravley farm in the North Groesbeck Community.
