Mr. James Delton Cook, 54, a retired Civil Service employee and a native of Arkansas, died Friday morning, February 13 at the Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bessie Welch Cook of Vaiden and his mother, Mrs. Evie Cook, also of Vaiden; one sister, Mrs. James Chipley of Jackson and one brother, J. W. Cook of Greenville.
Mr. Cook was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 203 in Greenville and an Army Veteran of World War II.
Services were held Sunday, February 15 at 2 p.m. in Oliver Chapel with Rev. John A. Wade officiating. Burial was in Old Providence Cemetery in Attala County.
Pallbearers serving were Donald Cook, Rufus Welch, Albert Welch, Vernon Welch, Dennis Welch and Dewitt Welch, with Oliver Funeral Home in charge.
