Mr. William "Bill" D. McCorvey, 61, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at the Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. He was born May 26, 1943 in San Antonio, the son of William Neal and Juanita Asbury McCorvey. He was reared in San Antonio where he graduated high school. On March 26, 1952 he was married to Darlene Kaye Wenner. He worked in sales for many companies including Phizer Corp, Hoyle Playing Card Co., Helen of Troy Corp and L&N Sales. He has lived in San Antonio, Dallas, Ennis, Cincinnati, Ohio, El Paso and Bella Vista, AR. In 2003 he returned to Ennis. He enjoyed many hobbies but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church and a 32 degree Mason. He is survived by his wife, Darlene, of Ennis; a daughter, Laura Chambers of Fayetteville, AR; a daughter and her husband, Lana and John Payne of Ennis; grandchildren, Jacob and Katherine Payne of Ennis, Rebecca Smith of Plano and Michael Smith of The Woodlands; 2 brothers, Neal McCorvey and James McCorvey both of San Antonio; a sister, Joan Davis of New Braunfels; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss him dearly but know he has a new life in heaven. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Moody and Rev. Fred Caldwell officiating. Interment will be in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carter Blood Care Bank or the Lymphoma/ Leukemia Society.
