On March 8, 1914 he was united in marriage to Effie May Reese and to this Union three children were born.
He had been a farmer in Douglas, County most of his life and was active until ill health forced his retirement.
He was preceded in death by one son, Chalmer, three brothers, Grover, Grady and Rufus and four sisters, two in infancy, Allie Johnson, and Anna Reese. He leaves to morn his passing, his wife Effie, a daughter Elpha Coble, and one son Ellis Wood, one granddaughter, and two grandsons, two sisters Minnie Sloan and Frona Berry as well as many other relatives and friends.
