She was born March 28, 1945, in Luxemburg, to the former Marie Thiry and the late Rupert Pagel.
She graduated from Luxemburg High School and got a degree in Med Tech from N.W.T.C.
She worked as a CNA for over 40 years with her last employment at the Odd Fellow Rebekah Home for the last 19 years. Mary married Bernard W. Alsteen March 6, 1962. She was a member of Celebration Church, formerly Bayside Christian Church.
She loved horseback riding, moped riding, riding along with her husband, Bernie, on over the road truck driving, especially through the mountains.
Survivors include her husband, Bernard Alsteen; three daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Larry Gilson, Denmark; Joan and John Bolton, Denmark; Brenda and Jamie Fenske, New Franken; one son, David, Luxemburg; 13 grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Nicholas (fiancee, Emily), Justine, Jeremiah, Adam (fiancee, Tracy), Joshua (fiancee, Heather), Eric, David Jr., Daniel, Crystal, Trevor and Jordan; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Larry and Jenna Pagel, Kewaunee; Dale and Debbie Pagel, Sturgeon Bay; Wayne Pagel, Florida; one sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Darrel Mileski, Green Bay.
Friends may call after 4 Sunday, Nov. 22, at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee. Visitation continues on Monday after 10 a.m. Monday at Celebration Bayside Church, 3475 Humbolt Rd., Green Bay, Wis., until the time of services. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Garry Pierce officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
