Vesta Mae was a loving wife,mother,
step-mother,grandmother and
great-grandmother.
Vesta Mae was the youngest of six children in her family.She attended Logansport Elementary in Logansport,LA.Before her senior year,she transferred to Carthage High School,where she graduated.After graduation she quickly fell in love with a man she met at the Assembly of God Church,Quinton Creech.They dated for several months and were married.They moved into a small wood frame house in Galloway,with Quinton's mother,Pheby Diane Creech.
Vesta Mae was a stay at home wife and mother.Later she worked for 15 plus years.She worked as a seamstress and as an orderer.
In 1978,she got a job at Georgia Pacific in Logansport,LA. working on the glue line.After being there for only six months,she was made supervisor over the line.In 1980 while at work,she fell 24 feet out of a glue loft onto a glue tank and badly injured her back.Over the next 20 years,she encountered countless back surgeries,the loss of her husband to emphysema,and in 2002,the amputation of her leg below the knee,and she always kept a positive outlook on life.
She remarried in January of 1992 to an old childhood friend,Billy Wayne Henderson,who she ran into while playing bingo at the fire department in Logansport.Together they camped,traveled,fished,laughed,and enjoyed life.
In May 2009 she was diagnosed with adeno carcinoma.She chose to spend the remainder of her life with her loved ones and together faced this one day at a time.
In loving memory of Vesta Mae Creech Henderson age 73.Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. Thursday July 30,2009 in the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mervin Scott and Reverend Glen Ketchum officiating.
Pallbearers were Quinton Creech Jr.,Jeremy Creech,Justin Creech,Dale Baker,Gary Creech,William Gatewood,Shannon Madden,and Tim Clark.
Honorary Pallbearers were Shasta Patton,Leah Madden,Jessica Creech,Susan Green,Amanda Chastain,Jonathan Creech,Jessica McClain,James McClain Jr.,and Tommy McClain.
