V. Delford Isaacson, 87, of rural Loomis died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Delford was born January 14, 1924 on the family farm north of Loomis in Phelps County, Nebraska, the eldest of three children of Evar and Mabel (Wallander) Isaacson.

Delford received his primary education from the Westmark Rural School north of Loomis and then attended Loomis High School.

On June 11, 1950 he was united in marriage to Betty R. Bergman at the Holcomb Evangelical Free Church north of Holdrege. Following his marriage to Betty, the couple engaged in farming north of Loomis for nearly 40 years. To this union four children were born: Norm, Mary, Steve and Laurie. Farming was his passion; he also enjoyed raising livestock and loved to stay busy on the farm. In later years, the couple enjoyed spending time together making crafts and traveling to shows. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty on July 28, 2008. In November of 2008, Delford began to make his home at the Christian Homes Care Community.

Delford committed his life to the Lord at an early age and was an active member of the Westmark Evangelical Free Church, where he faithfully served in many capacities.

Delford leaves to mourn his passing: children: Norm Isaacson and his wife, Betty of Loomis, Mary Porteck and her husband, Jeff of Tucson, Arizona, Steve Isaacson and his wife, Gerri of Dalton, Ohio, and Laurie Duncan and her husband, Chuck of Loomis; grandchildren: Jennifer Pedersen and her husband, Mike of Marshalltown, Iowa; Rachel Montgomery and her husband, Andrew of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Christopher Isaacson and his wife, Cassie of Lenexa, Kansas; Jon Isaacson and his wife, Chelsea of Loomis; Chad Porteck and his wife, Brenda of Overton, Nebraska, Ariel Porteck of Germany and Paige Porteck of Tucson, Kelly Isaacson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Stephanie Taylor and her husband, Tim of Marshalltown, Iowa, Amanda Isaacson of Lansing, Michigan and Sven Isaacson of Dalton, Kimberly Schukar and her husband, Scott of Loomis, Tiffany Duncan of Omaha, Nebraska, Zach Duncan and his wife, Emily of Gering, Nebraska and Brook Williams of Loomis; great-grandchildren: Isabella, Luke and Seth Pedersen, Isaac, Elizabeth, Samuel and Matthew Montgomery, Claire, Ava and Grace Isaacson, Eli and Jed Isaacson, Mckinzi Crowell, R.J. and Cody Truex, Kendra and Kylee Porteck and Jace and Jaron Schukar; one sister, Elizabeth Johnson of Holdrege; brother, Dale Isaacson of Elm Creek, Nebraska; brothers-in-law: Lemoyne Bergman and his wife, Joyce and Grant Bergman and his wife, Donna all of Holdrege; sister-in-law, Marilyn Olenik and her husband, Ken of Rockford, Illinois and a host of relatives and friends.

Besides his wife, Betty, he was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Ella Mae Isaacson and brother-in-law, Millard Johnson.
