WINONA JOHNSTON

Keosauqua — Winona A. Johnston, 59, died at 8:07 a.m. Feb. 27, 1986, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

She was born Oct. 2 1926, at Mount Zion to Linn and Nellie Mechem Beatty. She graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1944 and attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant. She taught in rural schools in Van Buren County. She married Paul E. Johnston March 5, 1948, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They farmed in Van Buren County. She was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church and the UMW.

She is survived by her husband; a son and a daughter; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Shirley Craig of Milton and Eleanor Strait of Keosauqua.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Lebanon United Methodist Church, the Revs. Chris Daniel and Gerald Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.

Memorials to her church or the Cancer Fund may be left at Pedrick Funeral Home. Visitation is open at the funeral home.
